My family and I moved to Missouri City my junior year of
high school. Adapting to and excelling in new environments
is second-hand nature since my father was in the military. I
would learn that the ability to adapt provided essential
skills such as being able to focus on solutions quickly
rather than wallowing in the problem. This would prove to be
a valuable asset in the business world later in life. I
graduated from Lawrence E. Elkins High School in 1995 and
went on to obtain my undergraduate degree in Business
Management with a minor in Accounting from Albany State
University. I returned to Missouri City and began working at
the Imperial Sugar Company in Sugar Land, TX as an
accountant. Part of my duties was to oversee several hundred
accounts that totaled well into the millions. I also trained
people to efficiently use a financial system to maintain
those million dollar accounts.
In 2003 I graduated from Houston Baptist University with a
MBA in Business Administration with generous portions of
Human Resources, Accounting, and Business Strategies. In
2007 I graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at
Texas Southern University. After graduating with my law
degree, I began working at the Department of Labor in
Washington D.C. as a Legislative Analyst. I also spent a
short time in the Office of the Solicitor within the
Department of Labor.
After I returned to Missouri City, I began working at a
financial institution in the Galleria Area. I also continued
to work in my community. I was here when Hurricanes Ike and
Katrina came through ravaged our states and our neighboring
states. I was here when Houston and its surrounding cities
and suburbs opened their arms, homes, and hearts to those
who were hit hardest. I was one of the thousands of people
who volunteered their time help people get back on their
feet. I saw the generosity of the multitude and how we all
made a difference in the community. I saw neighbors sharing
the generators with 5 and 6 neighbors at one time. I was a
recipient and a donor of food, water, and ice. We all
witnessed first-hand what a tremendous difference one person
can make. I am licensed to practice law in the state of
Texas and I intend to make a definite mark in the legal
community.
Presently, I am starting a non-profit organization to help
at-risk students. Striving to make a difference in Ft. Bend
on a larger scale, I want to bring more first-time voters to
the poll and re-ignite the spark in currently registered
voters to return to the polls with consistency. I have a
hosts of ideas that will better Ft. Bend but I need your
help to make them possible. I am running to be your next Ft.
Bend County Clerk and I am asking for your vote.
